1. Who we are
Zhagaram (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an integrated strategy and creative firm based in Tamil Nadu, India. For the purposes of data-protection law, we are the data controller (and, under the DPDP Act, the Data Fiduciary) responsible for your personal data.

2. The data we collect
We only collect what we need.
a) Information you give us directly, when you use our contact form or subscribe to our Journal:
- Contact enquiries: your name, email address, organisation (optional), the type of engagement you select, and the contents of your message.
- Journal subscription: your email address.
b) Information collected automatically, our hosting provider records basic technical data for security and to deliver the site, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested (standard server logs). We do not use this to identify you.
We do not knowingly collect any special-category data (e.g. health, religion, political views), and we ask that you do not send such information through our forms.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry and provide our services, lawful basis: performance of, or steps prior to, a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in responding to you (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- To send you our Journal / updates, lawful basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you give by ticking the subscription box and may withdraw at any time.
- To keep the site secure and working, lawful basis: our legitimate interest in the security and integrity of our website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Under the DPDP Act, our processing is based on your consent or on legitimate uses as permitted by the Act.
4. Cookies and tracking
This website currently sets no advertising or tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics that profile you. Because of that, you won't see a cookie-consent banner, there is nothing non-essential to consent to. If we introduce analytics or any non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and obtain your consent first where the law requires it.
5. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers (“processors” / “Data Processors”) who help us run the site, and only as needed:
- Netlify, Inc., website hosting and form handling. Form submissions are stored on Netlify's infrastructure so we can read and reply to them.
- Google LLC (Google Workspace), our business email, used when we correspond with you.
These providers process data under their own security and privacy commitments and only on our instructions. We may also disclose data if required by law.
6. International data transfers
Some of our providers (e.g. Netlify, Google) are based in, or store data in, countries outside India and the EEA, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent measures offered by those providers.
7. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry data only as long as needed to handle your request and for our legitimate business and record-keeping needs, after which it is deleted. Journal subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time (see your rights below).
8. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/UK, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
- have your data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to our processing;
- data portability (receive your data in a portable format);
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing; and
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.

9. Your rights (India, DPDP Act, 2023)
If you are in India, as a Data Principal you have the right to access, correct, update, and erase your personal data, the right to grievance redressal, and the right to nominate another person to exercise your rights. You may exercise these rights, or raise any concern, with our Grievance Officer:

10. Your rights (California, USA, CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information (as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA), and we do not process it for cross-context behavioural advertising. 11. How we protect your data
The site is served entirely over encrypted HTTPS, and we rely on reputable providers with strong security practices. While no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.
12. Children's privacy
This site and our services are intended for businesses and professionals and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Where the DPDP Act applies, we will obtain verifiable parental consent before processing a child's data if such a situation arises.
13. Links to other sites
Our site may link to external websites (for example, our social profiles). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be made prominent on this page.
